Janus” has become one of the brightest fashion projects in Lithuania in 10
years. Like all projects, it was finite. I stopped him because of an
unsustainable environment. I wanted to rethink my creative model, taking into
account the change that the whole fashion industry is experiencing. The year of
the pandemic helped me a lot, when the consumption of fashion changed
dramatically, deepening and accelerating the process of decreasing consumption
and awareness. This is
how the fashion project of the mini collection - capsule artwork emotional
puzzle - appeared.
I create the environment. Every project, a capsule, is like a holistic game, when things are born from a work of art, experience, memories. Objects or other works of art. From paintings, sculptures, photography, books - everything that a new world can be born at that time: clothes, accessories, jewelry, dishes, furniture, any elements of the human environment.
A capsule is fashion "slang" means a mini-collection of 5-10 models that can be combined on or around yourself as a puzzle or constructor's game. All the works fit together in such a way that there is an opportunity to "immerse" in the emotion of the work of art, to "carry" the touch of the artist's hand on oneself.
I deconstruct the idea of my art on various objects of the human environment, claiming that fashion is an art therapy, a performance in which a person becomes a part of it's world. Anyone who chooses to wear the image of a work of art becomes part of my creative performance as well.
I am very pleased with the new, more sustainable pre-order business model. All products are made to order only. This helps to avoid overproduction accumulated in warehouses, excess procurement of fabrics, production, warehouse rental and unsustainable costs, unhealthy selling prices.
Creative sources of the capsule "Three+one"
The name "Three+one" means that the fashion in this capsule is a reflection of three paintings and one sculpture in the artistic field. The paintings "Dynamic spark", "Vibrant water", "Secret thought" and plus one sculpture "Green light", which is at the same time an old torso of the mannequin from the first "Julia Janus" fashion period. After the shops closed, the torso remained unsold due to a cracked part of the neck. In this way it turned into a painting - a sculpture, which i called "Green light". I transferred a fragment of each work to the printing of clothes, the chosen shades of the clothes emerge from the color of the paintings.
The model for myself
Due to a pandemic in 2020 I spend all my time at home painting, then creating a fashion styles and whole new "Julia Janus" concept.
Naturally, for the collection's Lookbook and editorial photo shoot, I became a model for myself and found places at home that vibrations of my sources of inspiration - paintings.
